Where to find the Suggested Lessons content row on the Pathful dashboard, and what's featured this month.

Every month, Pathful highlights a curated set of FlexLessons in the Suggested Lessons content row on the educator dashboard. Each collection is built around a timely career-readiness theme, so educators always have relevant, ready-to-teach content without having to dig through the full lesson library.

What Is the Suggested Lessons Content Row?

The Suggested Lessons content row is a rotating collection of five FlexLessons featured directly on the educator's dashboard. Each month's theme connects to a timely career-readiness topic, a national observance, or a moment in the school year (such as the FAFSA opening or the start of a new semester), so the lessons stay relevant as the year progresses.

Educators can preview or assign any lesson in the content row directly from the dashboard, without searching the broader lesson library.

Where to Find It

The Suggested Lessons content row appears on the My Dashboard page, just below the top navigation. It's visible to educators as soon as they log in.

October's Theme: Planning, Funding, and Readiness for What's Next

With the FAFSA opening earlier than ever this year, October is the moment to help students take concrete steps toward funding their future while also checking in on how ready they feel for what comes next. This month's lineup covers financial aid, postsecondary planning, and student readiness:

  • A Guide to the FAFSA: Walk through how to complete the FAFSA step by step.
  • Funding Postsecondary Learning: Understand why the FAFSA matters and explore other financial assistance options and their long-term implications.
  • Understanding Postsecondary Education: Begin researching postsecondary options and schools.
  • Introduction to Your Transition Plan - Part 1: For students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), understand the purpose of the Transition Plan and the importance of setting a postsecondary goal.
  • High School Career Confidence Index*: Establish a baseline for how confident students feel about career readiness, so growth can be tracked from freshman year through graduation.

*Note: The Career Confidence Index is a 55-item survey covering six areas of career readiness. Scores fall into three bands (Emerging, Developing, and Proficient) that show a student's current starting point. A companion Educator Guide breaks down how to interpret scores, offers instructional strategies matched to each band, and includes conversation starters for low-scoring sections, as well as a recommended assessment schedule to track growth over the year. A Middle School version of this lesson is also available in Career Lessons. For help building reports to track this data at the school or district level, reach out to your Pathful Customer Success Manager.

How to Use This in Your Classroom

Whether students are just starting to think about their future or building on plans from previous years, these lessons give every student a starting point. Assign a lesson directly from the content row, or preview it first to see how it fits into your current unit or advisory block.

Check back each month for a fresh set of lessons aligned to what's timely for students and schools.

September's Theme: Exploring Who You Are and Where You're Headed

Self-discovery and early planning are natural starting points for the school year. Before students can chart a path, they need a clear sense of their interests, strengths, and options. This month's lineup helps them build that foundation:

  • Careers and YOUR Interests: Reflect on personalized results from the Career Clusters Interest Assessment and connect them to real career options.
  • Choosing a Career Pathway: Understand what a career pathway is and how to start narrowing down the options.
  • My Career Plan Outline: Pull it all together with favorite careers, goals, and the Career Clusters Interest Assessment in one place.
  • 2024 Career Cluster Framework Overview: Get familiar with the updated career cluster framework so students can make more informed pathway decisions.
  • Career Confidence Index - Middle School*: Establish a baseline for how confident students feel about career awareness and planning, so growth can be measured throughout the year.

*Note: The Career Confidence Index is a 42-item survey covering six areas of career readiness. A High School version of this lesson is also available in Career Lessons.
