An educational opportunity with logistical challenges

When a rare solar eclipse was set to pass over Lawrence Township, district leaders saw a chance to engage students in discussions about the solar system and related careers. But organizing it for 16,000 students across 21 schools — 28% of whom speak Spanish as a first language — was a real challenge: finding an experienced astronomy speaker and reaching all 21 schools in a single day seemed nearly impossible.

How we found success
