Children's privacy notice
Last updated September 16, 2025
This Direct Notice Regarding Children's Privacy is provided as required by law to help your education institution decide whether to consent to our collection of Personal Information from students under 13. We encourage Customers to share this notice, along with our Privacy Policy, with parents of students using the Services.
When a Customer chooses to use Pathful's K–16 solutions with students under 13, Pathful relies on an authorized individual at that Customer institution to consent — on behalf of parents — to our collection and use of those students' Personal Information, before we collect it. That consent is built into our contract with the Customer; executing that contract to obtain the Services grants permission for us to collect the Personal Information described below.
Personal information we intend to collect directly from students under 13
As students use the Services, we collect Personal Information in the form of assignments — which may include essays, survey results, resumes, cover letters, and feedback — and provide it to their educator to support them.
Where a student's institution permits it, students may join video or audio conferences with industry professionals ("Live Sessions"); we collect the recording of those sessions, which may include the student's name, image, voice, and chat history.
We also automatically collect the student device's IP address, browser type and version, operating system, network and other device information, and activity logs — plus language, areas of the Services visited, pages viewed, and time on page. We use this for what the law treats as permissible "internal operations": understanding usage, diagnosing problems, remembering preferences, improving the Services, and supporting security. We typically use it in aggregate form that doesn't identify an individual; where it does identify someone, we treat it as Personal Information under our Privacy Policy.
How we may use and share student personal information
We use student Personal Information only to support the Customer's education purpose — providing and supporting the Services — and never for commercial purposes.
We share certain student Personal Information with companies that help us deliver the Services: cloud storage providers, security services, and analytics providers who help us understand usage and troubleshoot issues. Limited student Personal Information may also go to industry professionals who lead video sessions at an educator's direction.
The authorized individual at the Customer institution may, for themselves or on a parent's behalf, request to review a student's Personal Information, request its deletion, or instruct Pathful to stop collecting or using it further. We retain Live Session recordings for 30 days, and otherwise delete student Personal Information within 30 days of a written request from the Customer.
